MELISSA AUF DER Talks About Leaving SMASHING PUMPKINS, Solo Album: Video Available
March 13, 2004Former HOLE/SMASHING PUMPKINS bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur spoke to NME.com before her NME Awards 2004 show at London Islington Academy about leaving the PUMPKINS, her solo album, and life in general. Click here to watch the interview in Real Media format.
Auf Der Maur's solo debut, "Auf Der Maur", is scheduled for release in the U.S. on May 18 through Capitol Records. Melissa reportedly used her life savings to make the album, which she produced with Chris Goss (KYUSS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE). Guest musicians on the CD include QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Josh Homme, former QOTSA members Nick Oliveri and Mark Lanegan, plus FU MANCHU's Brant Bjork, HOLE's Eric Erlandson, Auf Der Maur's former SMASHING PUMPKINS bandmate James Iha and ex-ZWAN/A PERFECT CIRCLE bassist Paz Lenchantin, among others.
